Make short bungees to perfectly fit your Soft Straps
This simple kit lets you make four short bungees to perfectly fit your Gear Jack Soft Strap Setup. Here's how to do it.
- Measure the length of the bungee from each tie down point along the path the bungee will take
- Subtract 2" (1" for each end hook)
Depending on how tight you want the bungee, multiply the figure in #2 above by:
- .9 for a light hold
- .75 for a firm hold
- .6 for a tight hold
- Cut the shock cord to length. (Since you can always cut off more, it's best to start with the cord a bit long.)
- Seal any frayed ends of the shock cord with a flame or heat gun
- Slide the round ferrule over the end of the shock cord and press an end hook onto the cord. Fully seat the end of the cord into the hook.
- With slip joint pliers, carefully squeeze the ferrule over the end hook.
- Test the fit. If you want to make the bungee tighter, use the pliers to pull the ferrule off the end hook, trim the shock cord, and repeat steps 4-7. Enjoy!
Kit includes:
- 36" Black 1/4" Shock Cord
- 8 re-usable end hooks
